The highlight of his career so far came at York on 14 June 2025, where he won a Class 2 race — one of the top tier of British racing. That kind of win doesn't happen by accident, and Teal was open about how well things fell into place that day: a decent draw, a jockey who knows the track inside out riding for him for the first time, and a horse who had found his rhythm after a confidence-building win at Leicester just beforehand. Teal described him at the time as looking like a potential Group horse — the very top level of the sport — and said the form from those runs has since been confirmed by how well the other horses in those races have gone on to perform.

The catch is that Hucklesbrook is, by his trainer's own admission, his own worst enemy. He gets wound up before races, and if he doesn't keep a lid on things in the preliminaries, the wheels can come off. Teal put it bluntly: the talent is there, but he lives on the edge. The last 6 races back that up — form reading 8-4-8-5-4-8, with no win in that run. He has placed twice, but mostly he has been in the background. That York victory now sits 11 months in the past.
