That single career win arrived at Great Yarmouth in September 2024, and it remains the lone victory on her record — now twenty months ago. Since then, she has run six times without adding to it, though her recent form shows a couple of encouraging placed efforts mixed in with some quieter days. Trainer Clive Cox, who operates out of Lambourn in Berkshire and has sent out 48 winners already this season, spoke about her in April with genuine optimism. He noted she had done well over the winter and was working nicely, though he admitted his fillies had been a little slow to hit their stride in the early part of the year. The hope, he said, was that she could build on what she showed at Yarmouth.
Her most regular partner in the saddle has been Rossa Ryan, who has ridden her in five of her eleven races and won once together — a win rate of 1 in 5, which is actually a strong return when you consider how stiff the opposition at the top level tends to be. She raced just yesterday, so she is very much a horse in active training and not one being preserved for a single target.
The interesting question with Hold A Dream is whether, at four, she can translate that promise — seven places, solid placed efforts at the highest level — into a second win. Cox's yard is clearly in good form with nearly fifty winners on the board this season. If the fillies have indeed come to hand, she may be closer to finding the winner's enclosure again than her recent winless run suggests.
