That single win came at Lingfield Park on 4 August 2025, and it remains the defining moment of the horse's career so far. Lingfield is an unusual track — a tight, turning course with an artificial surface that suits certain horses far better than others, and it is worth watching whether Hachiman returns there. Some horses simply click with a particular venue, and that win could be more than coincidence.
The recent form makes for harder reading. The last six runs have produced finishes of 7th, 7th, 7th, 9th, 8th, and 3rd — that 3rd is the most recent result, which at least suggests a flicker of improvement after a rough patch. Most of its racing has come at Class 5 level, which is the everyday, bread-and-butter tier of British racing, and even there the results have been mixed: 1 win from 5 races at that level, a 20% win rate, or 1 in 5. That is actually a respectable ratio when you zoom in, even if the overall picture is patchier.
Hachiman is trained by Ruth Carr, who operates out of Stillington in North Yorkshire. Carr's yard has sent out 63 winners this season, which is a healthy total and a sign that horses leaving her stable in good order. When a trainer of that output sends a horse to the races, it is rarely without reason.
