Trained by Richard and Peter Fahey at Musley Bank in North Yorkshire, Great Success runs for one of Britain's more established yards. The Faheys have sent out two winners already this season, and with a lively string of horses to work through, there is no particular reason to write this one off just yet. Three-year-olds often take time to click — their bodies and minds are still developing, and some need several runs before things start to fall into place.
What will concern the team most is the recent sequence. The last four races, reading from most recent backwards, read 11-4-8-3 — meaning the horse showed something early on with that third, then went backwards badly, and has only just shown a flicker of form again with a fourth last time out. Raced just yesterday, Great Success is clearly being kept busy, which suggests the yard believes there is a race to be won somewhere in the near future. Whether that confidence is rewarded remains the question.
