What makes Goblet Of Fire genuinely interesting is his consistency at distance and on certain ground. At tracks around one mile three furlongs to one mile four furlongs, he wins three times out of five — a 60 per cent win rate that shows this is genuinely his trip. He is equally at home on wet, muddy ground and normal conditions, winning in both, but it is at Wolverhampton where he truly dominates, with two wins from just three races there. In Class 4 company — his natural level — he has won five of nine races, a 56 per cent record that underlines he belongs exactly where he is.

James Bowen has ridden him 10 times and won three of those, a 30 per cent win rate. His trainer, Nicky Henderson, operates from Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, one of the most respected yards in the country — Henderson sent out 90 winners this season alone. In a recent stable visit, Henderson described him simply: "He's a little star." What catches the eye is not his appearance — the trainer reckons he does not look the part — but his willingness to run well in handicaps, his adaptability between different conditions, and his potential on the all-weather tracks where his consistency might shine even brighter. Recent form shows two wins in his last six races, and with a race just a day ago, Goblet Of Fire remains active and ready to add to his tally.
