The career started taking shape on 9 October 2024 at Nottingham, where Gentle Warrior broke its duck for the first time. But the most recent win — and the one that tells you most about what this horse can do on a big day — came at Chester on 12 September 2025. Chester is one of the most unusual tracks in Britain: tight, left-handed, and barely a mile around, it rewards horses that are nimble and switched-on rather than those that rely on raw power. Winning there takes a particular kind of racing intelligence, and Gentle Warrior has demonstrated it has exactly that.

The training operation behind this horse is no small outfit. Burke's team have clearly identified what suits this horse and where to place it, with most of its career coming at Class 5 level, where it has won 1 from 6 races — roughly 1 in every 6 outings at that grade.

Recent form reads 2-10-5-3-1-1, and the dip in those last couple of runs after two back-to-back wins is worth watching rather than worrying about. The horse raced just one day ago and remains active, which suggests the team are not short of confidence in its wellbeing. Whether it can rediscover that Chester-level sharpness is the question — but a horse that places as reliably as Gentle Warrior does tends to find a way back to the front sooner or later.
