Flying Moonlight

The recent form tells an interesting story, though. The last five results read 3-3-7-7-7, and if you read that from right to left — oldest to most recent — it shows a horse that was finishing well down the field and has gradually found its way into contention. Two thirds in the most recent runs suggests Flying Moonlight is improving, even if the winning post remains just out of reach. The horse raced just one day ago, so it is very much an active work in progress.

Flying Moonlight is trained by Sandy Thomson at his yard in Lambden in the Scottish Borders, and the operation is in decent health this season — 18 winners sent out so far, which is a solid return for a yard of this size. Thomson has a reputation for patient handling, and a young horse still finding its feet at three years old is exactly the kind of project that rewards that approach. If the upward curve continues, a first win may not be far away.
