The first win came at Doncaster in July 2025, and then, most recently, Exclamation landed a second victory at Chester just last week on 8 May 2026. Chester is one of British racing's most unusual tracks — tight, circular, and unforgiving — and winning there tends to mean a horse is genuinely versatile and adaptable. The fact that Exclamation was competitive enough to win there says something real about its quality.
What gives pause for thought is its record at the very top level. In three races at Class 1 — the elite end of British racing, where the best horses in the country line up — Exclamation has yet to win. That's no disgrace at three years old, and plenty of good horses take time to crack that level, but it does mark out where the next challenge lies.
The team behind Exclamation is trained by Grace Harris, based at Shirenewton in Gwent. The yard has had a strong season, sending out 31 winners, which puts it firmly in productive, in-form territory. Harris clearly knows how to place a horse to win, and the recent Chester success — running just a week ago — suggests Exclamation is very much in the thick of its season right now, racing frequently and in good order. With a win in the bag and form suggesting it belongs at a decent level, the next few months will be telling for what this young horse can become.
