What she does do is keep showing up. Her last six runs read 6-3-3-5-11-3, and the bookends of that sequence tell two different stories: a rough outing when she finished eleventh, and a run of placings either side of it that show she bounces back. She raced just yesterday, which means she's firmly in training and her team at Maunby clearly believe there's another win in her somewhere.

Most of Doralee's career has been spent in Class 6 races — the entry-level tier of British racing — where she's won 1 from 13, a win rate of around 8%. That's not a horse dominating her level, but it's not a hopeless case either. She's most often ridden by William Pyle, who has been aboard for all six of those recent runs and was in the saddle for the Redcar win. Between them, they've won 1 from 6 together, roughly 1 in every 6 rides — a decent partnership at this level. Trainer David and Nicola Barron have had a productive season with 17 winners from their North Yorkshire yard, so Doralee is in capable hands. The question is simply whether she can find that winning feeling again.
