Dark Rosa

Her first career win came at Pontefract in September 2024, and her most recent at Wolverhampton in November 2025 — six months ago now. That Wolverhampton win is worth noting because it came in what looks like her sweet spot: races run over a mile and a furlong to a mile and two furlongs, where she has won one from six (around 17%). That might not sound like a lot, but it is comfortably her best distance range, and trainers learn to trust those signals. Get the trip right, and Dark Rosa gives herself a chance.

She typically runs in Class 5 races — the bread-and-butter level of British racing, where the competition is real but not elite. At that level, she has won two from 13, or roughly one in every six and a half tries. She has placed five times on top of that, meaning she has been in the mix far more often than her win total alone suggests. She is not a horse that simply makes up the numbers.

Her recent form — finishing eighth, ninth, and seventh in her last three — is not pretty, and there is no point pretending otherwise. But she raced just one day ago, which means she is clearly fit and active, and the yard will be looking for the right opportunity to get her back to what she does best. That yard is run by Georgina Nicholls, based at Kingston Lisle in Oxfordshire, and they have sent out 11 winners this season — a trainer operating with genuine momentum. When a stable is in form, it lifts everything around it, and Dark Rosa is still young enough to improve.

At four, she has time on her side. The record is modest, the recent runs have been tough, but there is a horse here that has won at the right trips, in the right grade, and is trained by someone who clearly knows how to get winners on the board.
