That is the language of a horse who, on his day, makes it look straightforward. Scott noted after Catterick that he had "progressed each time" and was learning his job, which is exactly what you want to hear about a young horse finding his feet.

The wet ground connection is worth knowing. In seven races on soft or muddy ground, he has won twice — a win rate of 29%, or roughly 1 in every 3.5 races. On normal or dry ground, that number drops away. It is not a coincidence; it suggests he genuinely changes gear when conditions suit him, which makes him worth watching when the weather turns.

His most recent win came at Musselburgh in August 2025, and he has not won in his last six races since. But Scott is characteristically direct about why: the handicapper has noticed him. Every time he runs well, he gets a slightly harder task next time. She describes him as "too honest" — he never runs a bad race, which means he never gets an easy opportunity either. He was third at York just recently, beaten half a length, which is the story of his life right now: close, competitive, but the weight always seems to arrive just in time to stop him. Scott has Musselburgh in her sights as a target, and given that is where he last won, the track suits and the ambition is clear.
