What makes Curious Rover genuinely interesting is his recent form and his preference for wet ground. Three weeks ago, on 13 July at Ayr, he won on the kind of soft, muddy ground that most horses find exhausting—and that is where he shines. In wet conditions, he wins roughly 3 in every 10 races, a win rate that doubles his overall average and marks him out as a horse that thrives when the going gets heavy. Last Friday at York, he ran third, beaten only half a length, a near-miss that shows he is still competitive at tracks that matter. His breakthrough came last August at Catterick Bridge, and just a month later, in September 2023, he won a Class 2 race at Haydock—one of the top racing venues in the north. Jockey William Pyle has ridden him eight times and won twice, a partnership that works well when everything clicks into place.

Scott's assessment of her horse is telling: he is honest, consistent, and probably too genuine for his own good.
