That is not a throwaway comment — it is a genuine endorsement of a horse that earns its keep. All four of its wins have come at the lowest tier of British racing, Class 6, where it has won 4 of 36 races at that level, or about 1 in every 9. It is not a horse built for the big stage, but it is perfectly calibrated for its own.

What makes Crystal Guard tick is stamina. Jardine specifically recalled a win over a mile and five furlongs at Hamilton where the horse simply outstayed everything else in the field — grinding them down over a long distance while others faded. That kind of ability is a skill in itself. The jockey who brings it out best appears to be Mohammed Tabti, who has ridden the horse to 2 wins from 12 races together, a win rate of 17% — nearly 1 in every 6 rides. That is almost double the horse's overall average, which suggests the partnership genuinely works.

The most recent win came at Musselburgh on 1 July 2025, ten months ago now, and the last six races have produced nothing better than a fifth place. That run of form is something to keep an eye on. But Crystal Guard raced just yesterday and is clearly still active, still being sent out by a yard that rates it. The very first win came at Wolverhampton back in November 2022, which means this horse has been finding its way into the winner's enclosure for nearly three years across different tracks and conditions. For a horse operating at this level, that kind of staying power — in every sense — is what defines it.
