What makes Coachello interesting is his extreme inconsistency over the last two years. His sole recent success came at Wolverhampton on 30 December 2024, some twenty months ago now. Since then, he has raced six times without a win, finishing eighth, eleventh, and sixth in his three most recent outings before that. It is the kind of form that would have ended many horses' racing careers, and yet Mark Loughnane's yard continues to run him, suggesting the trainer believes there remains something left to find. Coachello does show a clear preference for normal ground conditions—he has won 3 of his last 12 races on good ground, a 25 per cent win rate that stands out sharply against his overall record—and he seems to suit a distance between seven furlongs and a mile, though that too remains an unreliable pattern. He was last seen racing just a day ago, which confirms he is still actively competing. Whether he can rediscover the form that brought him victories at Lingfield and Newcastle in late 2023 remains an open question, but at eight years old, the window for a resurgence is narrowing.
