That one win finally came at Great Yarmouth in August 2025, and it clearly meant something. Great Yarmouth is a flat, straightforward track on the Norfolk coast, and Clasina seemed to find something she liked there. Whether it was the track, the ground, or simply a day when nothing went wrong, she got her head in front — and that matters for a horse that had been placed so many times without converting.

Her recent form actually tells a quietly encouraging story. In her last six races before her current break, she finished third, third, fifth, eighth, and third, with that Yarmouth win sandwiched in. The dip to fifth and eighth is a blip, but the thirds either side of it suggest she has found a consistent level. She competes mostly at Class 6, which is the entry-level tier of British racing — and even there, winning has been hard, with just that one victory from eight attempts at that level, a rate of roughly one in eight. That's not a horse dominating her grade; it's a horse that belongs there but hasn't quite cracked it.

Now she returns after eight months away, which is a significant absence. Jockey P J McDonald has ridden her six times without a win, though given the broader pattern of near-misses, that may say more about the horse's habit of finishing second or third than any particular partnership issue. Berry's yard at Newmarket has sent out 13 winners this season, so the operation is in decent form. The question is simply whether Clasina, with one win to her name and a long break behind her, can find another day like Great Yarmouth — when everything finally went right.
