What makes his recent form particularly striking is the Goodwood double. He won there on 24 September 2025 and again on 12 October 2025, both times at Class 2. Winning the same prestigious track twice in three weeks suggests more than luck — it suggests a horse who genuinely suits something about the place, whether that's the famous sweeping bend at Goodwood or the distance he's now running over. Trainer David O'Meara, one of the sharpest operators in the north of England, pointed out that dropping Cerulean Bay back to seven furlongs seems to have been the turning point. Before that tweak, there was a run in Ireland where he pulled up lame — a worrying sign that could have ended his season. It didn't. He came back and went on a run.

The partnership with jockey Daniel Tudhope is worth noting. The two have worked together in seven races and won three of them — that's winning 43 of the time, or 3 in every 7, which is a remarkable hit rate. When Tudhope rode him at Thirsk in August 2024 — Cerulean Bay's widest draw in the field, a position that usually hands other horses an advantage — the horse simply refused to let that matter. "If something comes to him, he keeps going," Tudhope said afterwards. That attitude is what separates horses who occasionally win from horses who keep winning.

O'Meara's yard has sent out 107 winners already this season, so there's no shortage of quality coming out of Upper Helmsley. The fact that Cerulean Bay still finds his way into the spotlight in that environment says plenty about him. He raced just one day ago and remains active, a five-year-old who looks like he's hitting a rich vein of form at exactly the right time of his career.
