Cerulean Bay

The horse is a creature of habit, and that habit has made him dangerous on certain tracks. He absolutely loves Goodwood, where he has won two of his three races there, most recently in October 2024. He is also partial to slightly soft or muddy ground — in fact, he has won two of three races on that surface, which suggests he thrives when conditions become testing. His trainer, D O'Meara, noted that dropping him back to seven furlongs seemed to unlock something, and that he handles bends well and possesses genuine toughness. Jockey Danny Tudhope, who has partnered him for three wins from eight races together (a 38% win rate), spoke after one victory about Cerulean Bay's relentless attitude: "If something comes to him, he keeps going." That grit shows in his record at Class 2 level, where he has won 3 of 13 races despite competing against stronger rivals.

The fly in the ointment is timing. Cerulean Bay has not won in his last six races, though he has picked up a couple of places, and his recent form reads 12-9-2-4-8-5. That said, he raced just yesterday, meaning he is very much active and presumably being aimed at races where his preferences — favourable ground, a track with bends, a Class 2 contest — align. When O'Meara and Tudhope get those variables right, Cerulean Bay is capable of delivering. The question now is whether his yard can engineer another winning opportunity before he drifts further away from that Goodwood moment last autumn.
