Candlish herself spotted the potential early. Speaking before his first career win, she described him as "very decent" and expected him to handle a mile or even a mile and a quarter, flagging that good races lay ahead. She was right. He broke his duck at Haydock Park in April 2024 and has kept adding to his tally since, most recently winning at Bath in April 2026 — just three weeks ago, suggesting he is firmly in form right now.

The upturn in form is clear and it has arrived at the right time, given he raced just yesterday and is very much in active campaign.

That is meaningfully better than his overall win rate of around 1 in every 6 races across all conditions, so when a dry summer spell arrives, he tends to make it count. Most of his racing has come at Class 4 level, which sits in the middle tier of British racing, and he has won just 1 of 13 races at that grade — a tougher ask, which puts his broader record in perspective.

That is a productive relationship by any measure, and Candlish's yard has already sent out 61 winners this season alone, making this a stable currently operating with real confidence.
