Call To Action

The Easterbys have had a productive season, sending out 55 winners, and Call To Action has contributed at both ends of the calendar year. Its first win came at Newcastle in January 2024, which is worth noting — winning indoors in the depths of winter on an all-weather track takes a certain kind of reliability and professionalism. Not every horse takes to that environment. The second win arrived at Ripon in July 2025, a completely different type of venue: an outdoor summer track with its own quirks and a lively atmosphere. Two wins at two contrasting tracks suggests this is a horse that travels and adapts.

At the level it most often competes — Class 4, a solid middle tier of British racing — Call To Action has won 1 from 3, which translates to a win rate of 33%, or roughly 1 in every 3 attempts. That is a notably strong ratio at that level and suggests it belongs there rather than merely scraping in at the bottom of the class. The five place finishes from 10 races also tell you something: this horse is rarely out of the picture entirely. It runs honestly.

The recent form makes for interesting reading. Reading right to left — from oldest to newest — the sequence goes 11, 16, 4, 1, 2, 9. That's two difficult runs, a creeping improvement into fourth, then a win, then a runner-up finish, and most recently a ninth. The ninth came just yesterday, so it is far too early to read anything negative into that. What stands out is the sharp upward curve through the middle of that sequence — from struggling outside the top ten to winning and then nearly winning again. A horse that can do that is one worth watching when conditions click back into place.
