What makes this interesting is the yard behind her. Trainer K R Burke, based at Coverham in North Yorkshire, has sent out 140 winners this season alone — that is a seriously productive operation, and horses trained there tend to get every opportunity to reach their potential. When a trainer is firing in winners at that rate, a lightly raced two-year-old with a placing already on her record is not a horse to write off. She's clearly being given time and runs to develop.
She raced just one day ago, so she's very much in the thick of her season. At two years old, horses are still learning the job — the starting stalls, the noise of a crowd, how to settle and then quicken when asked. That second-place finish suggests she has ability; the two sixth-place efforts either side of it suggest she's not yet doing it every time. That's not unusual for a young horse finding her feet, and with Burke's team behind her, she'll likely keep getting chances to turn that promise into a win.
