The recipe for getting the best out of Blue Hero is pretty well understood by now. It runs best over a mile and three to a mile and four furlongs — a stamina trip that rewards a strong galloper — and it particularly likes the ground to be dry and quick underfoot or in normal, standard conditions. On dry ground it has won 2 from 8, and on normal ground 3 from 11, both around the 1-in-4 mark. Trainer Adrian Wintle, based just down the road in Westbury-on-Severn in Gloucestershire, has clearly worked out the formula. His yard has sent out 30 winners already this season, so this is not a quiet operation — Blue Hero is part of a stable in decent form.
The partnership with jockey Finley Marsh is another thread worth pulling. The two have teamed up 25 times, producing 6 wins together — that is nearly 1 in every 4 rides, well above the horse's overall win rate of roughly 1 in every 6 races across its full career. When Marsh is in the saddle at Bath, the combination clearly clicks.
The recent form needs a bit of honest context. The sequence reading back from the latest run goes 4-8-6-9-1 — that solitary win sandwiched between a lot of mid-field finishes. Blue Hero won at Bath as recently as the 1st of August 2025, so the sharpness is still there. It raced just one day ago, which means it is right in the thick of a busy campaign. Most of its races have come in the lower tiers of the sport, which simply means it competes in races designed for horses at its level — and at that level, at Bath, on decent ground over a staying trip, it remains one to keep onside.
