That solitary win came at Nottingham in April 2025, and it remains the only time Arcturus Flame has reached the winner's enclosure in its career. What makes that fact worth noting is the date — over 13 months ago now, with six races since and nothing to show in the win column. The recent form figures of 3-5-3-3-6-2 do at least suggest the four-year-old is running consistently enough, placing regularly rather than trailing home out of contention, but consistency without victories starts to look like a ceiling rather than a springboard.

The distance range of one mile one furlong to one mile two furlongs is clearly where the horse is most comfortable, winning 1 from 5 at those trips — a 20% win rate that stands out sharply against its overall record and suggests the horse is genuinely competitive when conditions suit. That's actually a solid number. The issue is translating that competitiveness into wins.

Trained by Richard Hughes at Upper Lambourn, Arcturus Flame is in capable hands — Hughes has sent out 60 winners this season, which is a yard in good form. Regular jockey Finley Marsh has ridden the horse five times without a win between them, though it would be unfair to read too much into that given the horse's overall profile. Racing mostly at Class 5 level, Arcturus Flame has won 1 from 6 at that grade — about 1 in every 6 — which means even at the less demanding end of the sport, wins remain elusive.
