Another Baar

The horse's breakthrough came in April 2023 at Ripon, and since then he has proved a reliable competitor for trainer Adrian Keatley's Ryedale yard in North Yorkshire. He tends to run in Class 4 races—solid, competitive fixtures without being elite—where his record is modest at 2 wins from 21 races. More encouraging is his partnership with jockey Oisin McSweeney, who has ridden him 15 times and won on 4 of those occasions, a 27 percent win rate that suggests they work well together. McSweeney has clearly found the right buttons to press.

What stands out is Another Baar's recent drought. His last winning day came at Goodwood on 2 September 2024, and despite staying active—he raced just a day ago—he has not found the winner's circle in his last six runs. On the evidence of his form, he remains a capable horse, particularly if he encounters the fast, dry ground that brings out his best. Whether that streak will end soon depends partly on luck with conditions and partly on whether the Ryedale yard can recapture the spark that made him such a reliable winner over the past two years.
