Getting runners to the track is the first challenge for any new trainer, and Jefford is doing exactly that. With only four runners to show across the last twelve months, this is clearly a compact operation — possibly a small string, possibly a yard that is still finding its feet. What matters at this stage is less the win rate and more whether the horses are running competitively, learning their craft, and keeping the yard — the team — encouraged enough to keep horses in the yard.

Every established trainer started with a record that looked like this. The ones who last are usually the ones who are patient, who pick their spots carefully, and who build trust one runner at a time. Whether Jefford fits that description, only the next few years will tell.
