Zero Tolerance

Zero Tolerance keeps showing up, keeps finishing in the mix, and keeps falling just short. A second place in there suggests a near miss that will have stung — close enough to taste it, but no cigar. At nine years old, the window for finding a first win is narrowing, and the pattern of placing without winning is well established now.

Jockey Adam Wedge has been the regular partner, teaming up ten times without a win between them. That is a long run of near-misses for a partnership, and while Wedge is clearly trusted by the yard, the combination simply has not found the right race yet. Trainer Mrs C Williams operates from Llancarfan in the Vale of Glamorgan, a small yard that has sent out three winners this season — proof that the team can get horses to win, just not this one so far.

Zero Tolerance typically races at Class 4 level, which sits in the middle of the racing ladder — not the top tier, but not the bottom either. Going winless from ten races at that level is the kind of statistic that makes you wonder whether dropping into softer company might finally unlock something. That said, the horse raced just yesterday and is clearly in good enough health to keep going. Sometimes a horse just needs everything to fall right on the right day. Zero Tolerance is still waiting for that day.
