What keeps this interesting is the yard it comes from. Trained by Mrs John Harrington at Moone in County Kildare, Zermatt Star has plenty of talent around it — the team has sent out 54 winners already this season, which is a serious operation by any measure. Harrington is a trainer who knows how to place horses and find the right opportunities, so the fact that Zermatt Star is still running suggests the team sees something worth persisting with. Not every horse clicks immediately, and in a yard firing at that rate, the experience and patience are there to wait for improvement.
Raced just one day ago, Zermatt Star is very much a work in progress. At three years old, it is still young and still learning, and some horses simply need time and miles under their belt before the penny drops. Whether a change of conditions, a different trip, or just natural maturity is the missing piece remains to be seen — but with a yard like Harrington's behind it, this one has not been written off yet.
