The first came at Sedgefield in October 2025, but it was the second that really stands out. On 29 November 2025 at Newcastle, Zanndabad won a Class 2 race — one of the top races in Britain — and that puts him in a different category entirely. Plenty of horses spend entire careers without ever winning at that level. He did it in only his second career victory, and he did it at a big all-weather track in the north of England. That is a result worth paying attention to.

His recent form tells an interesting story too. In his last six races, he has won two of them — that is a 33% win rate over that stretch, a sharp improvement on his career average. In between those wins there have been some quiet runs, a ninth and a tenth, which shows he is not entirely consistent, but the peaks have been high. At Class 2 level specifically, he has won 1 from 8 races, or 12% — not a dominant figure, but it proves he belongs there.

Jockey Daniel King has partnered him five times, winning once together — 1 in 5, or 20%. That is a meaningful working relationship and one that produced the Newcastle win. The training operation behind Zanndabad is A.J. Martin's yard, based at Summerhill in County Meath, Ireland, which has sent out 15 winners already this season — a yard in good form. The fact that they are placing a horse at this level and winning tells you they know what they are doing with him.

He last raced just one day ago, which means he is firmly in the middle of a campaign right now. The Newcastle win was five months ago, so the yard will be hoping he can rediscover that form. A horse who has already beaten Class 2 fields once and who is improving late in his career is exactly the kind of story that keeps racing interesting.
