Yaa Min

The most striking thing about Yaa Min is what happens when the trip gets longer. Over distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, this horse has won two of its three races — that is a win rate of 67%, which is exceptional by any measure. Horse racing rewards specialists, and Yaa Min is very much a horse who finds an extra gear when asked to stay. On normal ground conditions, the numbers back that up further: two wins from five races at 40%. The horse simply does its best work when conditions are fair and the race is long enough to let that stamina come into play.

Hayley Burton, based in Newmarket — the heartland of British flat racing — trains Yaa Min, and her yard has sent out six winners already this season. That is a yard in form, and it shows. Yaa Min's recent sequence reads 1-4-6-1-5-3 from most recent backwards, meaning two wins tucked inside the last six runs, including a victory at Lingfield Park just this week on 12 May 2026. The first win also came at Lingfield, back in March. That is not a coincidence worth ignoring — some horses simply take to a particular track, and Lingfield appears to suit Yaa Min very well.

The one puzzle in the profile is the Class 5 record: zero wins from four races at that level. Class 5 sits towards the lower end of the racing ladder, so it is slightly counterintuitive that a horse with such a strong overall win rate has not converted there. It may be that the trip or ground conditions at those specific races did not line up — or it may simply be that Yaa Min performs best when the variables are exactly right. Either way, the horse raced just yesterday and is clearly in the middle of an active campaign, so there will be more chances to find out.
