Yaa Min

The horse's recent form tells a story of inconsistency. Its last six races show a win sandwiched between places and unplaced efforts: a ninth-place finish most recently, followed by fourth, third, third, sixth, then that single win before things became less stable. Lingfield Park is clearly a happy hunting ground—Yaa Min won there twice, including a victory just four months ago on 12 May, suggesting the track suits it. There is a pattern here too: on normal ground conditions, the horse has won two of six races (a 33 percent win rate), which is a markedly better story than its overall figures suggest. Stretch the distances out toward two miles and longer races at 1m6f and beyond, and Yaa Min has won twice from seven attempts (29 percent)—again, noticeably stronger than its raw career numbers.

The problem lies with tougher competition. When Yaa Min steps up into Class 5 races—higher-level contests with better horses—it has not won in four attempts. That suggests the horse knows its level: it is a capable performer at the lower grades, where normal ground and suitable distances can play to its strengths, but it struggles when pushed harder. Trainer Hayley Burton's Newmarket yard has been reasonably successful this season with seven winners overall, so Yaa Min has been given every chance. The key now is finding the right race—normal conditions, the right distance, and the right class—where all three factors align. When they do, Lingfield Park might be worth another look.
