What is far more interesting than the horse's own record is the yard it calls home. Trained by W P Mullins out of Muine Bheag in County Carlow, World As One is part of one of the most formidable operations in the sport. Willie Mullins' stable has sent out 220 winners in the current season alone — a number that puts most trainers to shame and reflects a yard that is essentially a production line for competitive racehorses. Being trained there is a bit like being signed to the best team in the league: the infrastructure, the expertise, and the expectation of success are all there from day one.
World As One raced just yesterday, finishing fourth on its most recent outing, having grabbed second place the time before that. The progression is modest but readable — a placed run, then a midfield finish — and with a trainer of Mullins' calibre patient enough to keep running the horse, there is clearly still belief that a breakthrough is coming. Three races is a small sample. Some horses take time to click. Whether World As One is one of them remains to be seen.
