It suggests she has a preferred range and that the yard — sorry, that the yard — will likely keep targeting those distances. The fact that her trainer Grace Harris is based in Shirenewton in Gwent, just a short drive from Chepstow, means that track is likely to remain a hunting ground.

Harris has been in fine form this season, sending out 31 winners from her yard — a solid operation that clearly knows how to find the right race for the right horse. Who Is Alice typically runs at Class 5 level, which is the bread-and-butter end of British racing, and she has won one of five races at that level — 20%, or one in five, which is actually a perfectly respectable return for a horse at that grade. Whether she can rediscover that Chepstow feeling is the question — but there's enough here to suggest she's not done yet.
