She is trained by the Cheltenham-based partnership of Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls, a yard that has sent out 31 winners already this season and clearly knows how to place a horse well. The partnership with jockey Tom Bellamy has been central to the story — together they have won 4 from 6, which works out at winning roughly 2 in every 3 races they share. That is a remarkable partnership by any measure, and Bellamy's feel for the horse seems to be a real factor. The trainers have spoken about how much speed she showed at Market Rasen, more than anyone expected, and Bellamy was notably impressed.

The Cheltenham win in March was the headline moment. She was available at 80-1 that morning — the kind of price that suggests nobody outside the yard was giving her much of a chance — and yet she won. ITV4's Oli Bell had tipped her on his morning show, so at least one person had seen it coming. The trainer was clear afterwards that they had specifically targeted the race because they felt the two-mile trip around Cheltenham would suit her better than conditions that had beaten her last time out. They were right. For owner John Perriss, who has been with Kim Bailey for 38 years, it was his first Cheltenham winner — which gives you some sense of how hard these moments are to come by, and why they matter so much when they do.

She raced just yesterday, so there is clearly more to come. The team have already shown they are happy to be ambitious with her entries, and the trainer's own admission that she has "surprised us" suggests even those closest to her are still working out her ceiling. That is usually a very good sign.
