What does give White Chesnut a meaningful advantage is the stable behind the horse. Dermot Weld's yard at the Curragh in County Kildare is one of the most respected operations in Irish racing, and with 29 winners already on the board this season, it is clearly in strong form right now. When a yard is firing at that kind of pace, debutants tend to arrive ready to run — Weld is not a trainer who sends horses out underprepared. That does not mean White Chesnut will win first time out, but it does mean the horse has had every chance to show up in good order. The first race is always a step into the unknown, but this is a very good place to be taking that step from.
