What A Glance

The highlight of the career so far came at Stratford-on-Avon on 31 May 2024, when What A Glance won a Class 2 race — one of the better races you will find in British racing. That is a significant step up from where this horse normally operates. Day to day, What A Glance runs in Class 4 company, which is roughly the middle tier of the sport, and at that level has won just 1 from 6 (17%). The Stratford win suggests there is more ability here than the everyday form might indicate — on the right day, at the right track, this horse can mix it with a considerably better class of rival.

The career began with a first win at Worcester back in November 2021, and the most recent form makes for interesting reading: two wins in the last six races, sandwiched around some quieter efforts. That recent sequence — two wins followed by a run of blanks — is fairly typical of older horses who find their moments rather than dominating consistently. What A Glance last won 23 months ago, so the yard will be hoping that Stratford form can be rekindled. With a race logged just one day ago, this horse is clearly still very much in training and being aimed at targets. At 11, that kind of longevity in itself deserves a small round of applause.
