What makes Wardlaw worth watching, despite the empty win column, is who is doing the training. Sir Mark Prescott at Newmarket is one of the most respected operators in British racing — a meticulous, old-school handler who has sent out 47 winners already this season alone. Prescott is not known for running horses for the sake of it. When a horse stays in training and keeps getting entries, it usually means the yard believes there is a race to be won somewhere. With four races under its belt, Wardlaw is still learning the job.
