Trainer Brian Ellison operates out of Norton in North Yorkshire, and the yard has been in decent nick this season, sending out 43 winners. That level of activity from the team means Viper is in capable hands, and with just two races under their belt, there is plenty of time for the picture to develop. The horse raced as recently as yesterday, so the yard — the yard, rather — clearly have a plan in motion.
At this early stage, Viper is more of a work in progress than a finished article. Two races is a very small sample, and plenty of horses take several outings before everything clicks. Whether that third-place finish hints at ability waiting to be unlocked, or whether Viper simply needs more time and experience, the next few runs should tell us a good deal more.
