What makes Vienna Storm worth watching, though, has nothing to do with its own numbers and everything to do with who is steering the ship. Willie Mullins, based at Muine Bheag in County Carlow, is arguably the most powerful training operation in jumping, and his yard has already sent out 220 winners this season alone. That is a staggering figure — it means Mullins has been producing a winner roughly every day or two throughout the campaign. Horses in that stable tend to improve with experience, and a young horse with only two races under its belt is very much a work in progress.
With a race as recently as yesterday, Vienna Storm is clearly in the thick of an active campaign. Two runs is a tiny sample, and it would be premature to write this horse off on the strength of them. In one of the most sought-after yards in the sport, even a horse yet to open its account is worth keeping an eye on.
