It consistently shows up. The issue, and it is a real one, is that Victory Shout has raced eight times at Class 3 level — one rung below the very top races in Britain — and has yet to win there. Not once from eight attempts. That is the puzzle at the heart of this horse's career.

Victory Shout won at Taunton just three weeks ago, and its last six runs read 2-2-1-blank-9-11 — so two seconds, a win, a non-finish of some kind, and two poor efforts before that. That is the shape of a horse finding its best again after a rough patch, which gives the Taunton win real meaning. It raced again just yesterday, so this is a horse in the thick of an active campaign.

The partnership with jockey Sam James is worth noting. Together they have won 2 of their 5 races — that is a win rate of 40%, which is genuinely exceptional. When that combination clicks into place, something changes. Victory Shout also has a clear preference for normal ground conditions, winning 2 of 7 races on a standard surface (29%), and does its best work over seven furlongs to a mile. It opened its career account at Carlisle back in September 2023, and has been building quietly ever since.

The question now is whether the Taunton win signals a horse ready to finally crack that Class 3 ceiling — or whether it will keep doing just enough to stay interesting without ever quite delivering the big one.
