The most interesting thread in Venetian's record is what happens at Wolverhampton. Two wins from just five races there is a remarkable return — that is 40%, or 2 in every 5 visits — at a track where most horses struggle to find any kind of consistency. When a horse clicks with a particular venue like that, it tends to be a combination of the track's shape, the surface, and something instinctive in how the horse runs. Whatever the reason, Venetian clearly enjoys the place in a way it does not quite replicate elsewhere.

The yard behind Venetian is Denis Gerard Hogan's operation, based in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary. With 56 winners already sent out this season, Hogan is running a busy and productive yard, and Venetian is one of those horses that contributes in its own modest way — not always winning, but rarely disgracing itself either. Sean Davis is most often in the saddle, though their partnership has produced just 1 win from 13 races together, which works out at around 8%, or 1 in every 13 rides. That is a thin return, but in racing, familiarity between horse and jockey still has its value.

Venetian's most recent win came at Dundalk in January 2026, about three months ago, so the victory column is not ancient history. The last six runs have produced a second place and a third among the blanks, which suggests the horse is holding its form reasonably well without quite getting back to the winner's enclosure. Raced just yesterday, Venetian is clearly an active, hardy sort — 46 races at six years old takes a certain constitution. The first win came at Hamilton Park back in August 2022, so this is a horse with a long and honest story. Not a superstar. Just a genuine competitor that earns its keep.
