What makes the recent form slightly encouraging, if you squint at it, is that third-place finish — the best result in the last six runs, sandwiched between some heavier defeats. The wider pattern, though, is inconsistent: placings mixed in with double-digit finishes suggest a horse that shows up on its better days but hasn't strung anything together. Vault Of Heaven typically runs at Class 6, which is the lowest tier of British racing — essentially the entry-level grade where you'd expect horses to find easier opportunities. Going winless from seven races at that level is genuinely difficult to explain away.
Kevin Frost has had a productive season, sending out 25 winners from his Nottinghamshire base, so the ability to win races is clearly there in the yard. Vault Of Heaven, who raced just yesterday and remains active, simply hasn't been able to contribute to that tally. At four years old, there's still time — but the clock isn't exactly ticking in its favour. For now, it remains one of those horses that keeps turning up without quite delivering, and racing has plenty of them.
