The career began in earnest at Fairyhouse in September 2025, and since then this three-year-old has built real momentum, stringing together three wins in a row before finishing sixth and then twelfth in its two most recent outings. That dip in form is worth keeping in perspective — the horse raced just one day ago, so it is bang in the middle of its season, and a young horse learning its trade will not always run to the same level every time out. The last win came at Wolverhampton in February, on the all-weather circuit, which is essentially racing on an artificial surface under floodlights — a very different test to a summer turf track.
That distinction matters, because trainer George Boughey — who runs one of Newmarket's most productive yards, having sent out 99 winners already this season — has been candid about what comes next. He has acknowledged that those winter wins came against fairly ordinary fields and that the horse will now need to show it can step up in class. The target he has in mind is the Royal Mile, a serious summer race that would represent a significant jump in quality. Boughey describes the horse as still raw and still learning, but that is almost a compliment at this stage — it means the upside is still there to be unlocked.
Whether Utmost Good Faith can translate all-weather winning form into something special on turf against stronger rivals is the real question of its season. Boughey clearly believes there is more to come, and with 99 winners behind him this term, he knows what a good horse looks like.
