Uptaurintop

The recent form figures make for mixed reading. A pair of third-place finishes in the last six races suggest the ability is there in flashes, but there have also been some forgettable efforts in among them, including an eleventh. That kind of inconsistency is the puzzle the team at Lombardstown will be trying to solve. Uptaurintop raced just one day ago, so whatever answers they are looking for, they are clearly not short of motivation to keep searching.

The trainer is Eugene M O'Sullivan, who operates out of Co Cork and has sent out four winners already this season. That is a yard in working order, not a big operation throwing horses at the wall, which makes it all the more likely that Uptaurintop continues to be given chances. The question is whether a horse that has been placed twice in nine attempts can find that extra gear when it matters.
