Under The Twilight

The wider career picture is solid rather than spectacular. Seven wins from 43 races, mostly competing at Class 4 level — the middle tier of British racing, well below the top events but competitive enough that you have to be a decent horse to keep winning there. Three wins from 17 races at that level (18%, or roughly 1 in every 5 and a half) is a respectable return. The first career win came at Chelmsford back in October 2021, and the most recent was at Windsor in June 2025, so there is a long thread of achievement running through this horse's story across nearly four years.

The current form, though, is where things get interesting in a less comfortable way. Under The Twilight has gone six races without a win, and the last few runs show a horse gradually slipping down the finishing order — a fourth and a second giving way to a sixth, an eighth, a seventh, and a deeply disappointing seventeenth. That is a horse that went close, then faded, then had a genuinely poor day. Raced just yesterday, it remains active, which at least shows durability.

Jockey Harry Davies has been the regular partner, and together they have won 2 of their 10 races — 20%, or 1 in every 5 — which is actually above the horse's overall average and suggests a good working relationship. Trainer Michael Blake, based in Trowbridge in Wiltshire, has had 2 winners from his yard so far this season. The form dip is real, but if Under The Twilight turns up at Salisbury again, history says do not write it off.
