Undefeatable

The 4-year-old's record reads as a story of narrow escapes: 1 win and 4 places from 14 races means he has been in the frame roughly every other outing, yet those placings have outnumbered his wins by five to one. He does seem to have a distance preference. Over the sprinting trip of 5 furlongs to 6½ furlongs, he has won once from six attempts — a 17 per cent success rate that suggests he is neither a reliable performer nor a complete non-entity at those distances. His partnership with Wesley Joyce shows promise too: they have combined in five races and won one of them, a 20 per cent win rate that stands well above his overall career average. If the yard can time another run with Joyce and get the distance right, there is a sliver of hope that Undefeatable can recapture the form that brought that Sligo success. For now, though, he remains a horse caught between potential and inconsistency — still racing but searching hard for the consistency his name suggests he should possess.
