Twinjets

The recent sequence tells the story vividly. In his last six races, Twinjets has won three times, including back-to-back victories in top-level company. He won a Class 2 race at Fontwell Park in October 2025, followed by another Class 2 at Newbury in November — two of the better races you can win in Britain outside of the very top tier. Then, just this week, he added a win at Ayr. Three wins in his last six runs, with a second place thrown in for good measure. That is a horse in serious form.

He is trained by Paul Nicholls at Ditcheat in Somerset, one of the most formidable yards in the country — 92 winners already this season, which is the kind of output that only a handful of stables can match. His regular partner in the saddle is Harry Cobden, and the two clearly work well together: Cobden has ridden him to 4 wins from their 11 races together, a win rate of 36%, which is well above average for any horse-and-jockey combination at this level.

Nicholls has been candid about what Twinjets needs to be at his best. He prefers faster ground — on wet or muddy surfaces he is a different proposition — and after an unlucky stumble on New Year's Day that cost him a potential result, the horse has bounced back emphatically. Nicholls mentioned the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury as a possible target, while a festival entry in the Ryanair Chase remains on the table — though the trainer made clear Twinjets would have to win and win impressively to justify stepping up to that occasion.

What is most striking about this horse is where he tends to do his best work. His bread and butter is Class 3, where he has won 4 of 9 races — nearly half — but those Class 2 wins show he can step up when it matters. He started out at Hereford in April 2022 and has steadily climbed the ladder since. At nine years old, still winning at the highest level he has tackled, Twinjets looks like a horse whose story is very much still being written.
