Turret

The horse's sole win came at Carlisle on 9 June, now seven weeks in the past. Since then, Turret has run twice more: a second place most recently, followed by a tenth place before that. The recent form dip is worth noting—that tenth-place finish suggests the horse is being tested at stiffer levels or may have found a tougher race than expected. But the second place comes right after, which is encouraging. This is a horse still learning its trade, still figuring out where it belongs in the pecking order, and still active in the racing calendar. With three races under its belt and a winning record in place, Turret has already done more than many young horses manage in their first season. How the trainer uses it next will tell us whether Carlisle was the start of something or just a bright moment in a long apprenticeship.
