Trust House

The horse is trained by Olly Murphy at Wilmcote in Warwickshire, and the yard is operating at serious levels right now — 146 winners sent out this season alone. That is the kind of production that tells you a stable knows what it is doing, and Trust House looks like one of the beneficiaries. Its most regular partner in the saddle is Sean Bowen, one of the most respected jump jockeys in Britain, and the two of them have struck up a productive partnership: 3 wins from 8 races together, a win rate of 38%, or roughly 2 in every 5. That is a meaningful figure and suggests Bowen has learned how to get the best out of this horse.

What Trust House really loves is a trip. At distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, it has won 3 from 5 races — 60%, which is exceptional by any measure. Stretch it out, give it something to stay for, and this is a different animal. It also responds well to normal ground conditions, winning 2 of 3 races on a standard surface. The combination of a solid jockey, a red-hot yard, and a horse that clearly has a preferred distance and conditions is a useful hand to hold.

There is one intriguing wrinkle. Trust House has run six times at Class 4 level — one step below the top tier — and has not won once. Yet it finds the winner's enclosure elsewhere. That contrast suggests the horse may simply suit certain types of race better than others, and Murphy will no doubt have his views on where to target it next. With a win at Ffos Las just three weeks ago and a race as recently as yesterday, Trust House is fit, in form, and very much one to keep an eye on.
