The horse broke through for a first win at Galway on 27 July, and hasn't looked back since. Three weeks on, Trean is still racing actively and racing well: it finished third just a day ago, which shows it's a genuine racehorse in regular use, not one being carefully wrapped in cotton wool between outings. The form reads 3-1-10-3 across the last four runs — the "10" suggests a below-par effort, but a young horse is entitled to an off day, and Trean bounced back to third place most recently.

Trainer P Twomey, based at Cashel in County Tipperary, has built a decent season so far, with 35 winners sent out from the yard. Trean sits comfortably within the kind of up-and-coming two-year-old profile that justifies the faith: competitive, improving, and tested regularly on the track. It's early days yet, but there's nothing here to suggest the horse won't develop into a useful prospect.
