The overall record tells an interesting story on its own. Town And Country broke through for a first win at Navan in August 2024, then stepped up to claim that Sandown prize less than a year later. Winning 1 from 3 races at Class 1 level — the very top tier — means this horse has shown up when the competition is stiffest and delivered a third of the time. That is not an easy thing to do.
Recent form does raise a question worth noting. The last six runs read 12-11-11-1-2-2 in reverse order, meaning after back-to-back runner-up finishes and that Sandown win, the horse has finished outside the places in its three most recent outings. That dip is worth watching, though with Town And Country having raced just yesterday, there is clearly no shortage of ambition from Henry De Bromhead's yard. De Bromhead trains out of Knockeen in County Waterford and has sent out 107 winners already this season — a serious operation that does not run horses without purpose.
In the saddle, W J Lee has been the regular partner, riding in 5 of the 9 career races and winning once together — the same 1-in-5 ratio that reflects the horse's overall record. The partnership is established if not yet spectacular, and with a big win already on the board at Sandown, there is every reason to think the best of Town And Country may still be ahead.
