The first win came at Aintree in December 2025 — a track with genuine prestige and a crowd to match — and the most recent arrived at Newton Abbot in April 2026, just a fortnight ago. Two very different venues, which at least suggests Top Guy isn't a one-track wonder. The horse ran just yesterday, so the team are clearly keeping him busy while the form is good.

There is one detail here that deserves a second look. Top Guy's most regular rider is Harry Skelton, who has partnered him six times without a win between them. Zero from six. Yet the horse has won twice in its career. That means both victories have come with someone else in the saddle — an odd pattern when the yard's go-to jockey keeps getting the ride anyway. Whether that changes anytime soon is one of the more interesting questions hanging over the horse's next few runs.

That yard, incidentally, is Dan Skelton's operation out of Alcester in Warwickshire — one of the most prolific in the country right now, having sent out 194 winners already this season. When a team is operating at that kind of volume, individual horses can get overlooked, but Top Guy's back-to-back results suggest he's earned some attention. He's been running mainly at Class 4 level — solid, competitive racing without quite reaching the top tier — and has won 1 of his 3 races at that level, a rate of 1 in 3. If the recent momentum holds, a step up in class might be the next logical question.
