Top Flight Century

Trained by David Thompson at Bolam in County Durham, Top Flight Century is part of a stable that has sent out nine winners this season, so there is clearly a competent operation behind the horse. Thompson tends to pitch this one at Class 5 level — the bread-and-butter tier of British racing — and that is where the wins have come. Two victories from 13 races at that level, roughly 1 in every 6 or 7 attempts, is a decent return when you factor in that these races are genuinely competitive and that most horses at this level are fighting over similar ground.

The most recent win came at Sedgefield on Boxing Day 2025, which gives the season a real highlight — Sedgefield on 26 December is a lively, well-attended fixture, and winning there on one of the biggest days in the northern racing calendar is no small thing. The first win arrived earlier, at Perth in July 2025, so both career victories have come at tracks away from home, which hints at a horse that travels well and runs its race wherever it lines up.

Luke Morris is the regular partner, though the pair are still searching for their first win together from six attempts. That is a sequence worth watching — Morris is an experienced rider, and the combination clicking at some point feels more like a matter of when than if. The recent form string shows a win in there alongside some mid-field finishes, and with the horse having raced just a day ago it is clearly in a busy spell of form. Two wins and six places from 25 races means Top Flight Century has been in the money more than a third of the time — which is really the honest measure of a horse like this. It keeps turning up, keeps being competitive, and every now and again reminds everyone why it was entered in the first place.
