Tommys Charm

What Kerry Lee's yard will take some encouragement from is the recent form. In its last two completed races, Tommys Charm finished fourth and fifth — not spectacular, but at least consistently competitive rather than trailing in at the back of the field. Lee, based at Byton in Herefordshire, has had a productive season with 12 winners sent out, so the operation clearly knows how to get horses to the line first. The question is whether Tommys Charm can finally join that list.

The horse has run four times at Class 3 level without winning any of them, which is a tough ask — these are decent races, a step below the very top tier but still attracting quality competition. Racing at that level without a win to show for it suggests Tommys Charm may be operating slightly above where it can dominate, though it raced just yesterday and remains very much an active part of the yard's plans. Sometimes the right race on the right day is all it takes — but with ten attempts and counting, that day has yet to arrive.
