Titanium

Those two wins reveal something specific about what makes Titanium tick. Both came on wet, muddy ground, and on that surface the record stands at 2 from 8 — meaning it wins roughly 1 in every 4 races when conditions turn soft. That's a dramatically different horse from the one you see on a dry summer's day. Most horses simply tolerate the mud; Titanium actively improves in it. Pair that with its preferred trip — between a mile and a furlong and a mile and two furlongs — and you have a horse whose best conditions are quite narrow, but well-defined.

Trained by Ciaran Murphy out of Mullingar in County Westmeath, Titanium runs for a yard that has sent out 18 winners this season, so Murphy clearly knows how to find opportunities for his horses. Titanium's most recent win came at The Curragh on 2 November 2025, about six months ago now, and before that the first win arrived at Leopardstown in October 2024. Two winners from two of Ireland's most respected tracks is not nothing — this isn't a horse winning scrappy races in the middle of nowhere.

The recent form is harder to spin positively. The last six runs show a 10th, a non-completion, a 5th, a 6th, an 11th, and a 16th — with no win in that stretch. Regular partner Ben Coen has ridden it five times without a victory together. Titanium raced just yesterday, which means it is firmly in the thick of a busy campaign. Whether the ground and trip have been right during this losing run is the key question — because when those boxes are ticked, this is a horse that has shown it can win at good tracks. Catch it on a wet day at the right distance, and it becomes an entirely different proposition.
